The "BUMRUSH" by Nicky lars

I have never seen humans so excited for a birth that is irrelevant to their personal lives. We have become to deeply enticed by the birth of two celebrities our culture celebrates as demi-gods, we forget the reality of the lives we’re living. There are children out there suffering in the harsh world we live in, from Palestine to Iraq, to the streets of New York that Jay-Z so proudly reps. 

But I digress, going back to what I thought needed to be highlighted. The birth of Beyonce & Jay-Z’s baby was in Lenox Hill Hospital. A great hospital strategically located in uptown New York, where hundreds of people from all over NYC receive great service, including my father during his time in the hospital. Little did we know, that a whole section of the hospital was closed down, because of these celebrities. Parents were disabled from visiting their children, sick mothers in labor constrained because of two demi-gods giving birth to the next demi-god. Regardless of the fact that we put this newborn on such a pedestal, we think it’s a Messiah. So, the reality of the situation is two rich people (who could have EASILY hired an apprentice like Lauryn Hill) could have given birth in a luxury penthouse that they own…decided to shut down an entire section of a overpopulated hospital. 

May the Most High preserve & protect their child, in good health and all. But may we as people digress from this mental enchantment we have with celebrities that replace our ability to critically analyze and mentally stimulate, instead be gawking at the fame and money. May reality finally hit us as people, and we be captivated by our realities and start shaping our reality.
